Our second successful meet-up with the Vice-President of Bavarian Nordic GmbH, Dr. Hubertus Hochrein. Bavarian Nordic is an established vaccine company predominantly focusing on development, manufacturing and commercialization of sterile vaccines for existing and emerging diseases. The company has a strong foundation in vaccine development with commercial infrastructure and proven technology. Dr, Hochrein shared his journey with the company and talked about their specialization in viral vaccines in the past and present. Vaccines currently under clinical trials include the ones for Chikungunya, SARS-CoV-2, Equine Encephalitis and Immuno-oncology. We had an extensive discussion leading to several questions asked by students and researchers regarding career in life science industries, which was answered in great detail by our guest. Being an alumnus of the Technical University of Munich, he now takes lectures for the university students, which made him even more warm and open to the younger generation.
